  언젠가 우연히 광고를 통해 마플샵이란 곳을 알게되어서 이런 업체도 있구나하며 신세계를 만난 듯한 기분을 느꼈었는데요. 막상 직접 상품을 올리고 이용해보니 문득 '마플샵 말고는 없나?'라는 생각이 들었습니다.

  One day, I accidentally found out about a place called Marpple Shop through an advertisement, and I felt as if I had met a new world. When I first uploaded the product and used it, I suddenly thought, 'Is there company other than the Marpple Shop?'

  いつか偶然広告を通じてマープルショップを知って、新世界に出会ったような気持ちを感じました。いざ直接商品を上げて利用してみるとふと「マープルショップ以外にはどんなメーカーがあるのか？」という気がしました。

  마플샵 같은 업체를 POD 업체라고 합니다. Print on demand, 맞춤형 인쇄 혹은 주문형 인쇄 등등으로 말할 수 있을 거 같은데(출판 쪽은 Publish on demand라고도 하는 듯) 미리 인쇄물을 미리 찍어서 재고를 쌓아 판매하지 않고 주문이 들어오면 그에 맞춰서 찍어냅니다. 재고 걱정이 없고 아주 소량만 주문할 수도 있지요. 이 뿐만 아니라 디자이너 개개인에게 쇼핑몰도 제공하고 제작, 배송, 반품, 교환, 고객응대 등 모든 것을 알아서 해줍니다. 디자이너는 티셔츠, 액자, 폰케이스 등 원하는 물건에 내 그림을 얹어서 상품으로 올리기만 하면 나머지는 POD업체가 다 해준다는 겁니다. 물론 수수료가 있고 마케팅도 디자이너의 몫입니다. 마플샵은 여기에 국제배송도 지원하고 한,미,일 3개국어도 지원하는 등 장점이 많습니다.

  POD 업체를 통해 생산할 수 있는 상품군은 의류, 문구류 외에도 반지, 목걸이나 휴대폰 케이스, 그립톡 등 악세서리도 있고 여러 소재의 액자도 있는 등 다양합니다. 워치나 휴대폰 등 장비의 바탕화면을 디지털 굿즈로 판매하기도 하더군요. 때문에 디자이너가 자신의 캐릭터나 디자인으로 굿즈를 팔기도하고 유튜브 채널에서 굿즈를 홍보하면서 팔기도 한답니다. 그러면 마플샵 외에는 또 어떤 POD 업체가 있을까요?

  잠깐 찾아보는 것만으로도 꽤나 많은 POD 업체들을 볼 수 있었습니다. 공통적으로 어페럴, 특히 티셔츠가 주력인 듯한 느낌이 있습니다만 이 중에 엣시(Etsy)는 특이하게 그림을 디지털굿즈로 판매할 수 있더라고요. 물론 다른 곳에도 있을 수 있지만 엣시는 그림을 사고 파는 걸로 유명해서 큰 시장을 확보하고 있습니다. 그림을 상품으로 올리면 고객이 구매한 뒤 직접 인쇄를 해서 집의 인테리어나 파티, 이벤트 등에 사용한다고 해요. 그런 문화가 있는 줄은 이번에 처음 알았네요. 이 방식은 NFT나 직접 원화를 파는 것과는 달리 복제품을 파일로만 판매하는 것이기 때문에 좋은 디자인은 물론이요, 판매도 박리다매 느낌으로 해야할 것 같은데... 좋은 방법이 있는지 더 찾아봐야겠습니다.

  I was able to see quite a few POD companies just by looking for a while. In general, there is a feeling that apparel, especially T-shirts, are the main focus, but Etsy is uniquely able to sell paintings as digital goods. When a picture is uploaded as a product, the customer purchases it, prints it directly, and uses it for home interiors, parties, and events. This is the first time I've heard of such a culture. Unlike NFT or direct selling of original paintings, this method sells replicas only as files, so it is difficult to expect big profits... I will look for a better way.

  ちょっと探してみるだけでもかなり多くのPOD企業を見ることができました。共通してアペラル、特にTシャツが主力のような感じがありますが、この中でEtsyは珍しく絵をデジタルグッズで販売することができました。もちろん他の場所にもあるかもしれませんが、エッシーは絵を買って売ることで有名で大きな市場を確保しています。絵を商品に載せると、お客様が購入した後、直接印刷して家のインテリアやパーティー、イベントなどに使用するそうです。そんな文化があるとは今回初めて知りましたね。この方法は、NFTや直接原画を売るのとは異なり、レプリカをファイルとして販売するので、大きな収益を期待するのは難しいと思います。

 

 

머치 바이 아마존

  그리고 또 하나 관심이 가는 업체가 있었는데 바로 '머치 바이 아마존(Merch by amazon)'이었습니다. 전세계급 거대 쇼핑몰인 아마존에서 운영하는 POD 서비스입니다. 내 상품이 아마존이라는 쇼핑몰을 이용하는 수 많은 사람들에게 노출된다는 점은 대단한 이점일 듯하지만 그만큼 많은 상품과 판매자들 사이에서 살아남을 수 있을 지는 미지수지요. 그나마 위안이 되는 점이라면 머치 바이 아마존에 디자이너로 가입하는 문턱이 높다는 것과 상품이 상위에 노출될 수 있도록 도와주는 자체적인 유료 광고 서비스가 있다는 겁니다. 머치 바이 아마존의 단점이라 할 수 있는 점이 하나 더 있는데 생산할 수 있는 상품 종류가 별로 없다는 겁니다. 현재는 티셔츠, 탱크탑, 후드 등의 상의 몇 종류와 스마트폰 케이스, 그립톡, 토트백, 쿠션을 만들 수 있습니다. 다만 매년 제공하는 상품을 확장하고 있다고하니 시간이 해결해 줄 것 같긴 합니다.

  Another company I was interested in was 'Merch by amazon'. This is a POD service operated by Amazon, the world's largest shopping mall. It seems like a great advantage that my products are exposed to so many people who use the shopping mall called Amazon, but it is unknown whether I will survive among that many products and sellers. The only comforting thing is that there is a high threshold for joining Much by Amazon as a designer, and there is an in-house paid advertising service that helps your products to be exposed at the top. Another downside of Much by Amazon is that there aren't many products that can be produced. Currently, the products that can be produced are several types of tops such as T-shirts, tank tops, and hoodies, as well as smartphone cases, grip toks, tote bags, and cushions. However, as Amazon expands its offerings each year, I think time will solve it.

  そしてもう一つ関心のある会社がありましたが、まさに「マッチ・バイ・アマゾン（Merch by amazon）」でした。世界中の巨大ショッピングモールであるAmazonが運営するPODサービスです。私の商品がAmazonというショッピングモールを利用する多くの人々に露出されるという点はすごい利点のようですが、それだけ多くの商品と売り手の間で生き残ることができるかは未知数でしょう。それでも慰めになる点であれば、マッチバイアマゾンにデザイナーとして加入するしきい値が高いことと、商品が上位に露出できるようにする独自の有料広告サービスがあるということです。マッチバイアマゾンの欠点といえる点がもう一つありますが、生産できる商品の種類があまりないということです。現在はTシャツ、タンクトップ、フードなどのトップスのいくつかの種類とスマホケース、スマホグリップ、トートバッグ、クッションを作ることができます。ただ、毎年提供する商品を拡張していると言いますので、時間が解決してくれるそうです。

 

 

엣시

  엣시는 리스팅(상품 판매 게시)할 때마다 수수료가 들고 머치 바이 아마존은 가입부터 어렵다는 게 가장 큰 걸림돌인 것 같은데 그럼에도 이 두 군데가 가장 관심이 갑니다. 둘 다 우선 도전을 해봐야겠네요. POD 하시는 분들 커뮤니티가 있으면 좋겠네요. 정보 공유도 하고. 암튼 POD 하는 분들 화이팅입니다. 번창하시길.

  Etsy costs a fee for every listing (posting product sales), and the biggest obstacles seem to be the difficulty of signing up for Much by Amazon, but nonetheless, these two places are of the most interest to me.
